Assessment of periodontal conditions in women with gynecological cancer under chemotherapy

Abstract

The objective of this project is to evaluate the periodontal conditions in women with gynecological cancer under chemotherapy, and to monitor the effect of periodontal treatment on systemic and clinical conditions of these patients. Patients aged between 35 and 70 years, diagnosed with gynecological cancer that will be treated by chemotherapy at the Hospital of Ribeirão Preto will be enrolled in this project. The patients are divided into four groups: patients with cancer and without periodontal disease who receive preventive therapy (CA Tprev +) (n = 16); cancer patients with periodontal disease who will receive periodontal treatment (SD + CA + T) (n = 16); patients systemically and periodontally health (Control) (n = 16), and control individuals who do not have cancer but have periodontal disease and thus will receive treatment (PD + T) (n = 16). The clinical periodontal parameters: plaque index (PI), Gingival Index (GI), Probing Depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL), radiographic parameters, inflammatory parameters: C-reactive protein (CRP), total cholesterol , LDL and HDL cholesterol, white blood cell count, triglycerides and evaluation of salivary flow will be performed at baseline, 45 days, at 6 months in all groups. The data will be tested for normality and analyzed statistically. (AU)
