Abstract

In the period May 31 to June 08, 2013, the Instituto de Ciências Matemáticas e de Computação of the Universidade de São Paulo, ICMC-USPwill receive Professor Jean Mawhin, a researcher from the Université Catholique de Louvain, in Belgium. Professor Mawhin has a significative contribution to Differential Equations, having more than 330 scientific publications of which 19 are specialized books which contribute to the formation of young researchers. Besides, he is the Editor of more that 20 international journals in the area of Mathematics and is the Editor-in-Chief of the well-known Topological Methods in Nonlinear Analysis. The visit of Professor Mawhin to our institute will contribute to the international insertion of the Graduate Program in Mathematics of ICMC-USP. Moreover, the visit is profitable to the formation of the graduate students from the groups of Differential Equations of our institute and to researchers from other institutions who will take part in some of the activities we have planned. The objectives of the visit are: 1) to finish a preprint about periodic solutions of Generalized Ordinary Differential Equations; 2) to initiate the development of the theory of bifurcation for Generalized Ordinary Differential Equations.
