Bovine Herpesvirus 5: expression of apoptotic related genes in in vitro experiments

Abstract

The Bovine Herpesvirus 5 type is closely related to meningoencephalitis nonsuppurative which is endemic in parts of Brazil, mainly in the South of the country. This fact, coupled with the in vitro production of embryos (PIV) and embryo transfer (et) cattle are considered reproductive biotechnologies, which are routinely applied in genetic improvement of the species. However, it remains to determine the extent to which its use implies the spread of pathogens in the herd. Recently, it has been shown clinical disease and infertility Board reproductive cows inseminated with semen good for BHV-5 (KIRKLAND et al., 2009). The neurological form of the disease are scarce in the States of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, and frequent in the South of the country. The present work aims to analyze the presence of expression of various genetic markers related to virus-cell interaction, once the BHV-5 has already been described in the nervous system, reproductive epithelium and bovine gametes.
