Abstract

Broodstock nutrition is one of the essential tools to ensure produced eggs and larvae quality. Lipid and fatty acid are considered main components, since they act on gonadal development, gonadotropic and steroidal hormones composition and influence biological structures formation, like cell membranes. Thus the objective of this study is to evaluate catfishes (Rhamdia quelen) oocyte development and reproductive development when submitted to diets with different fat sources (marine fish oil, soybean oil, palm oil and the three oils' blend). For this, we performed two assays, the first for ovarian development and hepatological analysis through histological procedures, and the second, reproductive performance through analysis of fertility, fertilization rate, hatching rate, survival and percentage of normal larvae. In addition, fatty acids profile found in gonads and eggs will be analyzed. (AU)
