Abstract

The Japi Mountain was situated between two metropolitan regions (São Paulo and Campinas) and has a protected area as EPA with 19 thousand hectares, with at least 10 thousand hectares of native forest. Several ecological researches have being made during these last 25 years. At December 1992, the municipality of Jundiai city, in convention with UNICAMP (State University of Campinas), it inaugurated the 'Base de Estudos de Ecologia e Educação Ambiental Miguel Castarde' (BEEEA) with a constructed area of 800 m2 with substructure to receive researchers and students for developing their projects and given courses, especially of ecology and environmental education. The UNICAMP anel the municipality have been deleveloped a Program of Environmental Education, directed to environment protection, an important element of its Public Politic. The Ecological Base has been characterized as an important research center which is visited by students and people from Jundiai. We are sending this request to FAPESP with the purpose to provide equipments to this educational center. (AU)
