Abstract

Several studies have been developed during the last decades to analyze the efficiency of airports. Although cargo handling represents one of the top revenue sources for airports, no research has provided a detailed study of the efficiency of airport cargo terminals. Considering this critical need, this study intends to analyze the efficiency into four steps: (1) identify main air cargo terminals productivity indicators – 3 months; (2) determine international airports with similar traffic and demand characteristics compared to Brazilian airports – 3 months; (3) data collection (national and international) – 6 months; (4) select and apply a quantitative model to analyze the efficiency – 6 months. The total duration of this project is 18 months. The results will be directly useful for Infraero – Operations Department and to the Institute of Civil Aviation, in order to assist them to plan and manage the existing infra-structure, processes, and personnel.
