Abstract

The possibility of use of an artificial tissue that can favor a more natural cicatrization and, at the same time, can offer an appropriate and tubular format to the subglottic portion of the larynx can be valuable in the treatment of this difficult medical problem. Biotissue is a flexible, semi-transparent membrane, of yellowish color, used as temporary substitute of skin, composed of polyssacharides, synthesized by bacterium of the Acetobacter gender, being biodegradable, no poisonous, no pirogenic and sterile. It has been used with success as curative in dermal scars, burns, and skin donors areas. It was also used as meninge substitute and as material of covering of intravasculars stents to avoid circunferencial stenosis in square arteries gages. Their physical characteristics and biocompatibility, as well as the placement easiness, and the probable procedure dismissal for its subsequent removal can be advantageous. The material use with these properties still was not investigated properly in the patients with traumatic stenosis. As the tests in animals didn't include its evaluation in the area of interest, we understood that it is necessary to evaluate the toxicity conditions and the effectiveness of Biotissue as temporary curative in denuded lesion of the suglottic area. Objective: To compare the epitelial cicatrization of traumatic subglotic lesions in minipigs, with and without the use of Biotissue as temporary curative. Material and Method: The study will be accomplished in minipigs, once they present laryngeal structures similar to the one of the human beings and they offer good manipulation, attendance and evaluation conditions. Every animal will be submitted to a surgical scar of the subglottic mucosa and followed by placement of biotissue leaf as curative. Every minipig will be followed up by a certain period of time, so that we can have an idea of the possible cicatricial modifications for every elapsing period... (AU)
