Abstract

This proposal aims at assessing the initial development of footedness and lateral asymmetries of performance in the task of power kick. Participants will be 6 to 10 year-old male soccer players. Anatomic markers will be affixed on the main joints, and the children will be filmed while kicking a ball with the preferred and the non-preferred leg. Analysis of footedness will be made through observation of preference for one leg in different motor tasks. Our hypothesis is that lateral asymmetry of performance will be stable across ages, while lateral preference might be strengthened with systematic practice in soccer. (AU)
