Abstract

In this project, new formulas for residual moveout of migrated reflection events will be developed. They aim to quantify errors in the velocity field and, in a further step, update it. This work is an extension of a previous one developed with Jörg Schleicher (DMA/IMECC/UNICAMP), which results were submitted for publication (Schleicher and Biloti (2004)). Algorithms for velocity update based on the designed formulas will be proposed and its results compared with usual migration velocity analysis strategies. (AU)
