Active ageing and age-friendly city: study for the implementation of district elderly friendly of the Vila Clementino São Paulo/SP

Abstract

To achieve the purposes of the National Health Care, were defined as basic guidelines to promote healthy aging: the maintenance of functional capacity; assistance to the health needs of the elderly, the rehabilitation of impaired functional capacity, the training of human resources expertise; support the development of informal care and support for studies and research. In addition, policies aimed at the health of the elderly provide that attention to this population should have the primary concern of their stay in the community, at home, as much time, autonomously, to the extent possible. Thus, the family, primary care and social assistance are the pillars of this care. Considering that the Standard Operational Code of 1996, the Unified Health System (NOB/96 - SUS), also contemplated the idea that the health sector should be in three fields, the assistance, environmental interventions and policies outside the health sector, this project aims to consolidate a strategy of integration of public efforts, civil organizations and communities to contribute to an elder care that goes beyond the strict limits of health care by using the approach of active aging and course to ‘optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security in order to improve the quality of life as people age’. To this end the project intends to conduct a pilot study for the implementation of the age friendly district of Vila Clementino, in order to transfer this knowledge to other neighborhood and cities in the state of Sao Paulo and to others states.
