Abstract
This project aims to investigate the contemporary film criticism through a analysis of texts published in major mass media, especially magazines and newspapers considered opinion leaders, and written by authors who retain a critical impact even in the context of democratization of the writing and of the judgment through the Internet. From a reinterpretation of Pierre Bourdieu's concept of distinction, we are going to investigate how certain artworks are valued by film critic and how the canonical discourse about art has started to accepting categories typical of mass culture, such as entertainment and the use of standardized narratives.Through a selection of films that reverberate in the international scene and at film festivals between 1992 and 2002, we intend to analyze what are the criteria that inform contemporary film criticism, looking particularly those relating to heteronymous and autonomous categories in relation to the aesthetic field.
