Abstract

The main objective of the Project is to prepare new materials with advanced properties, to be applied in the fields of technology and environment. In special in the present collaboration project clays will be modified at the nanometric scale by organophilization. New materials will be able to incorporate metalloporphyrins with catalytic properties or lanthanide elements with luminescent characteristics. We will study the catalytic activity in the oxidation of cyclohexane and in the oxidation of ketones. In both cases, the oxidant will be H2O2. The research groups proposing this research have been working in collaboration for many years, and this interaction had already been envisaged in the FAPESP project of the Brazilian coordinator team. The present project will strengthen this cooperation and will allow for exchange programmes with researchers from the state of Sao Paulo visiting USAL. In this way, we intend to make substantial progress in the abovementioned project because discussions will be facilitated and it will be possible to use the equipment allocated by USAL. (AU)
