Abstract

This project starts from presupposition that teachers' knowledge, conceptions and experiences are related with the way they organize teaching and evaluation. Hence, there are important relations to describe and understand teachers' teaching, learning and evaluating practices developed by their students. Mainly, we want to understand which ways of teaching and evaluation are related to students' learning development and improvement. The main objective of this research is to describe, analyze and interpret teaching and evaluation praxis developed in three teacher's training courses at Faculty of Sciences and Arts at Assis at São Paulo State University (UNESP). The main idea is to understand the relation among such practices, students' learning improvement and school success or failure. The expected results can help to understand evaluation in higher education. Such results can be relevant in order to reform and improve educational projects, pedagogical practices and teacher's education policies. There are other objectives in this research, such as: describe and analyze evaluation practices used in class and relate them to academic success or failure, understand the relations between formative and adding evaluation and its real implications.
