Abstract

The academic structure of the Institute of Advanced Studies (IEA) of the University of São Paulo consists of research groups, study groups, chairs, visiting professors, senior professors, Brazilian and international speakers and other categories, such as laboratories, groups of directed studies, forums, among others. Participation in activities is open to researchers and professionals with projects approved by IEA's board. Participants can come from USP's community or not, having or not a college degree, since their knowledge is proven.Currently, the IEA has about 160 researchers, be they visiting professors or members that comprise its 13 research groups. In 2013 there were 140 public events held (attended by over 500 speakers and debaters from various public and private agencies) and 40 internal meetings with the participation of professors and researchers.This support is requested to increase the infrastructure of the institute, which will be extremely valuable as it aims to meet the needs of researchers and other members of the scientific and cultural community as well as to provide public service through the disclosure of about 600 videos of academic content in several areas of knowledge such as nature and life, humanities and social sciences.
