Abstract

The study of slope stability in open pit excavation is primordial to the security of the enterprise. Currently the main difficulties encountered in open pit mining consist in the difficulty of access to mining fronts, lack of data and time of their acquisition, many times putting the responsible professional at risk. The most modern techniques, such as laser scanning, present as limitations the high cost, the data acquisition conditions and operational difficulties. This project aims to apply the digital photogrammetry, coupled with computational processing and classical techniques of structural mapping in geomechanics, structural characterization of the massif and slope stability of excavation. The plan will be developed in an open pit mine in limestones of the Proterozoic São Roque Group. Sirovision / Sirojoint software will be used in photogrammetric restitution and automatic extraction of discontinuities, and RocFall, Swedge and Dips softwares in data processing and evaluation of planar and wedge failures, toppling and block falls. In addition, classical methods of structural mapping, as sampling per scanline and description of parameters such as spacing, persistence and roughness of discontinuities will be employed. Finally, we intend to obtain a geomechanical and structural model applied to the mine slope stability, with a comparison and critical evaluation of the various methods employed. (AU)
