Abstract

Retrospective cohort of elderly admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital das Clínicas, Faculty of Medicine, USP, in the year 2012. The main focus of the research will be adverse drug events (ADE) - trigger tool, drug-drug interactions (DDI), drug-disease interactions, mortality and nursing workload. The demographic and clinical data, drug therapy and nursing workload are obtained from secondary database. The identification of ADE will use the criterion of trigger tool of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. DDIs will analyze using DrugReax - Micromedex. The drug-disease interactions will use to the American Geriatrics Society Update Beers Criteria Update. In assessing the nursing workload will use the Nursing Activity Score. The SPSS statistical package will use for the binomial analysis and STATA for the logistic regression. The level of significance is 5%. (AU)
