Abstract

Knowing the environmental perception of Basic Education students and teachers about marine and Coastal environments is an important step in the development and improvement of field activities aimed to effectively promote Environmental Education, contributing to the conservation of these ecosystems and their biodiversity. The Underwater Trail Project (UT) provides this kind of field activity and can be classified as an action that promote the dissemination of BIOTA/FAPESP knowledge. The UT is the focus of this research project, which aims to contribute to the discussion of didactic proposals about marine and coastal biodiversity in Basic Education based on evaluation and improvement of field activities. The research will focus on Environmental Perception of students and teachers as well as the changes that such perceptions may suffer from the didactic activities. Specific objectives are (1) investigate the Environmental Perception of basic education ' students and teachers that participate in UT field activities, checking the possible influence of such activities on the Environmental Perception of them, (2) develop educational materials about coastal and marine biodiversity in partnership with teachers in training that are going to participate in field activities, (3) create digital versions of these materials and divulgate them on Biota Education link from Biota/FAPESP site; (4) investigate the environment concepts contained in those materials prepared by teachers.
