Abstract

Energy balance is a complex phenomenon, which mechanism involves central and peripheral actions of hormones and neuropeptides. The physical exercise is directly related at this mechanism by orexigenic and anorexigenic neurons modulation. Nowadays, some bodybuilders, athletes and physical exercise´s practitioners has been using anabolic androgenic steroids to obtain improved performance or esthetic. However, the chronic use of these substances is associated with a higher collateral effects and metabolism alteration. The aim of this study will be to evaluate central and peripheral neuropeptides and hormones related to energy balance in rats submitted to resistance training and exposed to nandrolone decanoate. A total of 40 rats will be distributed in four groups: Group I: control; Group II: resistance exercise group; Group III: exposed to nandrolone decanoate group; Group IV: submitted to resistance exercise associated and exposed to nandrolone decanoate. After the experimental periods, the animals will be euthanized and their brains, organs and peripheral blood will be collected for analysis of hormones and neuropeptides serum concentration for biochemical assays and gene expression by qPCR (AU)
