Entrenchment and organizational commitment in the process: increased understanding of the dynamics of construction and development

Abstract

This research project continues the study of organizational entrenchment, on research agenda on linkages with organizations of workers. After the results achieved in the first five years of research, this project aims to comprehend the dynamics of construction and development of organizational commitment and entrenchment. This project is divided into two sub-projects. Subproject I is a quantitative, extensive, cross-sectional study, related to first and second objectives of this project. Workers from different states, organizations and occupational characteristics will answer the questionaires. Cluster analysis and structural equation modeling will be performed. Subproject II aims to understand the emotions and the effects of life stage and career in the dynamics of organizational bonds. The objective is to understand how variables impact on the profile of entrenchment and commitment. The studies combine different methodological strategies, including quantitative and qualitative design. The triangulation methods allow to minimize risks involved in methodological choices: the difficulties in achieving large samples, the accuracy of scales, and possible biases in the interpretation of subjective data. It is expected that the results maximize the understanding of organizational linkages. (AU)
