This proposal aims at the acquisition of equipment for applied research to be developed in the graduate program of the School of Technology (FT) and in the Centre for Meteorological and Climate Research Applied to Agriculture (CEPAGRI) both at the State University of Campinas. The equipment will be used to leverage the three areas of concentration of FTs graduate program: Information and Communication Systems, Material Science and Environment. In CEPAGRI the equipment will modernize the area of Environmental Monitoring. The first area involves FT research topics on digital transmission, information theory, communication networks, microwaves, optics, photonics, circuit and systems design and digital signal processing. The second area deals with the development and characterization of new materials, photosensitive materials, piezoelectric ceramics, polymers, semiconductors and nanomateriais. While the third area is based on the development of methods and technologies for assessment, monitoring, prevention, control, treatment and disposal of pollutants. These topics cover all the activities of the research groups of the FT. For CEPAGRI, the equipment will be used to get a new system able to receive real-time images of a weather satellite, modern large-capacity data acquisition and remote generation products for the various areas of knowledge, such as meteorology, climatology, water resources, civil defense and climate change. These areas are directly related to the third area of concentration of FTs graduate program. (AU)
