Abstract

The objective of this request is to obtain funding from FAPESP for the visit of Dr. Rafael Larrua Quevedo (Titular Professor of the University of Camaguey, Cuba), to the Polytechnic School of University of São Paulo, for a six-months period from August/01/2014, in order to collaborate in the research on composite beams in fire situation. The research will result in a proposal of an alternative method for cross section bending resistance verification in the positive moment region in composite steel and concrete beams, with the presence or not of fire protection material. This will allow obtaining safe and economical solutions, in order to prepare the professionals of this field in applying the current Brazilian legislation. It will be used the Program Super Tempcalc for thermal analysis and complementary computational tools, which will be developed for the structural analysis, starting from the temperature fields obtained from the thermal analysis. It will be used artificial intelligence techniques to predict the structural behavior in fire situation for the first time ever. It will offer methodological bases for further uses in many different situations unlike the one considered in this research. The present research is associated to the FAPESP Regular Project of the responsible researcher. (process nº 2013/02435-4), and to the Project CAPES - MES/Cuba (process 181/12). Besides, the proposal project also is linked with a thematic project FAPESP already concluded (process nº 2006/06742-5) and to the proposal of a new thematic project, still in the planning stage. (AU)
