Abstract
The magnitude of morbidity and mortality due to traffic accidents, the existence of integrated systems of trauma care, the difficulty of integrating data sources of morbidity and mortality and the absence of criteria for assessing the quality of care for people with traumatic injuries, led to the development of this study whose H objectives are to implement a prospective trauma registry using technology to ensure the collection quality and storage of data, and analyze the factors related to the process of care for trauma patients associated with mortality, length of stay and outcome after hospitalization, with view to identifying indicators of quality of care. The patients with traumatic injuries from traffic accidents treated at Hospital Municipal Dr José de Carvalho Florence, in São José dos Campos, reference for trauma in the Paraíba Valley. The database will be structured in Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap), secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. The purpose is to offer information to the epidemiological surveillance systems, with special attention to injury severity and short and long term of disability for defining indicators of impact on the outcome after a traffic accident. In Brazil, people with traumatic injuries are attended almost exclusively in the Sistema Único de Saúde, thereby monitoring the results of the assistance could evaluate the effectiveness of assistance provided, could propose educational actions for health teams to ensure patient safety in the emergency service and to contribute for public policy to prevent and reduce morbidity and mortality from traffic accidents.
