Abstract

Prof. Jaylson Jair da Silveira will conduct several research activities in the graduate program in economics at the School of Economics, Business Administration and Accounting of the University of São Paulo in the period from August 01, 2014 to January 31, 2015. These research activities will be conducted in close contact to Prof. Gilberto Tadeu Lima, with whom Prof. Jaylson da Silveira has established a long and proficuous record of joint research and publication. The visiting researcher is a well-known specialist in theoretical explorations of macroeconomic issues in environment composed by heterogeneous and adaptive agents interacting to each other through self-reinforcing mechanisms. Prof. Jaylson's research shows how some stylized aggregate facts can be generated as equilibria in evolutionary games, how does the process of equilibrium selection take place and what are the ensuing implications in terms of long-run macroeconomic outcomes. As a result of the enormous affinity between the research agenda of the host researcher and the research agenda of the visiting researcher, three topics will jointly explored by them along the proposed visit: (a) endogeneity of labor effort (productivity), wage differentials and macrodynamic implications, (b) price and output stabilization in an economy with inflation-targeting monetary regimes and heterogeneous expectations and (c) an evolutionary dynamics of profit sharing by and macroeconomic implications in terms of income distribution and economic growth.
