Abstract

After several attempts in recent decades the University is prioritizing solve the problem of production of rodents for its researchers in a systemic way. The expansion and integration of production centers at USP are being implemented to ensure its functioning in a more rational and responsive formo Also, to minimizing the vulnerability of the system that currently exists. Significant resources are being allocated from the University budget. This subproject is part of a request for specific aid to FAPESP, for the acquisition of conventional and genetically modified rodents. The proposal aims to integrate, expand and streamline the instruments of production animais on the USP under a new management and governance to meet coordinates (i) the demand for conventional rodents (animal which genome has not been modified) and genetically modified for research activity, (ii) Facilitate the development, expansion and maintenance of strains of genetically modified USP and the research community in the country(iii) meet the new regulatory framework for the production and use of animais in research according to the Federal Law 11,794, to meet the ethical principies of animal experimentation and observing best practices in handling animals.
