Abstract

It is our plain to proceed and to perform a systematic study on the uptake, translocation, and accumulation (UTA) of micronutrients (Fe3O4 nanoparticles) in parts of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) plants grown in soil. Different protocols to grow bean plants in soils will be used. The magnetic signal, in different parts of the plants (roots, stems, and leaves), will be measured by using a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer in a wide range of temperature and applied magnetic field. In order to accomplish the above studies the iron content of the plants will be determined by using the inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). In summary, it is our main interest to use magnetic measurements as a tool to extend our knowledge on the use of NPs in plants grown in soil. (AU)
