Abstract

This project concerns studying, and understanding, the origin of azimuthal correlations and their Fourier coefficients ($v_{1,2,3...}$) in hadronic ($pA,dA,AA$) collisions. A lot of recent research has gone into understanding, with detailed quantitative models (mostly hydrodynamic based, but, in small systems, also based on high density QCD), correlations at a particular energy and system size. We propose an alternative avenue of investigation: Understanding how the relevant parameters of each model evolve as energy, system size, and rapidity are varied. Experimental data seems to show a particularly simple scaling, one that needs to be understood before we can say that we understand the origin of hadronic correlations. We propose to use a range of phenomenological and theoretical approaches that could clarify the situation. (AU)
