Abstract This is a research project for a graduate student to obtain a master's in science degree, to be develop within the Experimental Hadronic physics group at UNICAMP. This project is connected to the goals of the FAPESP thematic project "Hadronic physics in high energy nuclear collisions" (Temático FAPESP 2017/05685-2). The main goal of this project is to study the effects of jet thermalization in the Quark Gluon Plasma created in Heavy Ion collisions, such as the ones measured at RHIC and LHC. More specifically, we are interested in studying the formation of vortices in the QGP due to the thermalization of energetic partons in the QGP and the polarization of Lambda barions caused by this vorticity. We are proposing phenomenology studies of these effects using a hybrid simulation tool of heavy ion collisions created by the EXTREME collaboration. We intend to use realistic fluctuating initial conditions and a full simulation chain that includes a hydrodynamical evolution followed by hadronization and final state hadronic interactions. Also, systematic studies varying the conditions of thermalization of the jet inside the QGP will help evaluate the sensitivity of the polarization as a tool to probe the Jet interaction with the medium. We hope to be able to present predictions of experimental observables that could be measured by RHIC and LHC experiments. (AU) | |
