Abstract

The abrasives are considered strategic materials. Brazil consumes lot of wheels per year, although its potential is even greater. Supported facilities able to meet the needs of raw material of aluminum oxide and silicon carbide, virtually self-sufficient in its natural resources, industries has all the advantages for future development under the best conditions, we would say almost enviable, compared with other countries, currently more developed industrially. The number of abrasive types and particles sizes available is quite large, with the number of possible composities, structures and hardness than those formats make reach a large number of products, almost astronomical alternatives, for this reason the "complexity" formulations is directly related to the number of components used to attend the needs of use.The study on the development of manufacturing technology abrasive will be achieved by the production and characterization of abrasive materials of varying composition, formulations and their manufacturing process parameters. From the results obtained we intend to obtain a scientific, technological and innovation assistance database, including patents, as well as an optimization of abrasive composites manufacturing. (AU)
