Study of the changes in the solar magnetic field based on radio observations

Abstract

The project aims to study of magnetized features in the solar atmosphere. We can separate this regions in: a) the equatorial features which characterize the solar cycle (sunspots, active regions, plages, etc); b) the polar features that are correlated with the changes in the solar large scale magnetic fields (coronal holes, faculae, bright patches, etc). The study of these regions will be made by observational data analysis (optical wavelengths, radio, EUV and X-rays) with the objective of characterize the features emission at distinct layers of the solar atmosphere. Based on the observational results the active regions will be modeled using magnetic field extrapolations. The model aims to estimate the brightness temperatures values at radio frequencies and the emission processes present. Moreover, the changes in the particles temperature and density distributions at the active regions will be estimated. The numerical simulations results will be compared with the observations at radio frequencies. (AU)
