Abstract

Excessive allostatic overload leads to the development of disease. Hypertension is considered the greatest public health challenge for countries in socioeconomic and epidemiological transition and one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular mortality. It is known that obesity, within the context of metabolic disease is closely related to the development of hypertension, but little is known about the inverse relationship with respect to hypertension predisposing to obesity. However it's delicate to attribute a role to allostatic overload only in the development of hypertension because adipose tissue is considered an endocrine organ capable of releasing a variety of adipokines, such as leptin, adiponectin, inflammatory cytokines (TNF-±, IL-6), among others. For years the scientific community has intensely sought experimental models that could characterize the metabolic disease, with emphasis on hypertension. However, even with constant, in-depth studies in models of hypertension, the elucidation of the predisposition of obesity in hypertension is still scarce and poor in relation to the study of the interference of adipokines in this process. Our aim in this research is to analyze the expression of proteins related to metabolism of adipocytes and vascular reactivity as well as the involvement of adipokines in two models of hypertension: spontaneous (SHR) and induced (by L-NAME).
