Abstract

The computer network of the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research - IPEN has about 1650 workstations, distributed in 43 buildings, the 500,000 square meters of its campus. This network is constantly expanding. The Network Management and Support is responsible for providing an integrated and secure environment for communication and processing the information and institutional data, which includes administration and maintenance of an optical fiber mesh 5 miles. With the continuous increase in the number of connections and workstations networked, the adoption of an automated tool to manage the operation, and quickly diagnose possible failures became paramount.
