Abstract

This research project has as a purpose to analyze, organize and make available on-line, a critical bibliography of the short story winners and finalists of Jabuti Prize, from 1999 to 2008, in order to, in such a manner, characterize the short story of the period, that figures, in the core of the prize fiftieth anniversary, the patterns of the most recent national contemporary short story, in which the production of the literary generation 99-00, so considered by the criticism, is included. The research progresses with the register of the short story winners and finalists of Jabuti Prize, in the cited period, so generating conditions, in order to trace the fictional ideas that move that production. Therein, it also searches for approaching the production context of the recent short story prose, producing possibilities to assess that, through the collection, description and explanation of prefaces, postfaces, books, articles, reviews, interviews, reports, thesis and dissertations abstracts - subjects that, at present, are in a diffuse and fragmented way in the journalistic and academic discussions. Thus, the material from the register of the relevant critical bibliography is organized, however, without losing sight of the short story literary form subject, in the feature guided by the possibilities of a corpus to be investigated in the relations it keeps with the category of the fiction it is constituted of. In this manner, the justifications of the research are also stipulated: to promote conditions for reading and/or analysis of the symbolic and stable centres of the rewarded short stories, their narrative sets, together with their respective essential critical-literary sets, situated in specific historical, cultural and/or theoretical contexts.
