Abstract

In this project we will be focus on the two major atmospheric moisture transport mechanisms: (low levels jets - LLJs and atmospheric rivers - ARs). The main focus is the role of LLJs and ARs in precipitation extreme events (droughts and floodings) in the Amazon paying particular attention to i) intensification (decreasing) of moisture transport by them and its role in floodings (droughts), ii) changes in their positions and occurrence associated with floodings and droughts, iii) possible changes of ARs and LLJs within the context of future warmer climates, iv) links with Processes Driving Tropical Convection in the framework of the project GOAmazon (Project: "Multi-scale Processes Driving Tropical Convection and Influence of the Aerosol", coordinator: T. Ambrizzi). (AU)
