Abstract

The equipment will be used for a considerable part of the project by several researchers in the group, for analysis of individual genes or gene sets (PCR arrays), as well as by researchers from other laboratories of the Biology department and Genetics department, and also other units of the Campus USP-Ribeirão Preto. There is no similar device in the Lab. of Cytogenetics and Mutagenesis; There is an older machine (2005) in the lab. of Prof. Zilá Simões (Dep. Biology), for which there is high demand; The existing device in the lab. of Prof. Geraldo Passos (Dep. Genetics) does not fit plates of 98 wells (PCR arrays). Thus, the acquisition of the EMU will facilitate and expedite the research project recently approved (Proc. 2013 / 09352-7), which involves various participants, and the equipment will be open for use by other researchers.
