Abstract

This study will focus israeli literature created by immigrants from the Middle East and from North Africa and by their descendants who deal with the theme of immigration. This particular segment of israeli literary creativity has been sistematically kept at the margins of the literary scenario and has as one of its central aspects a paradoxical position before the exile/homeland dichotomy, central to Jewish literature and culture as a whole. This dichotomy appears curiously inverted in the works of authors such as Shimon Balas, Sami Michael, Albert Swissa, Itzhak Gormezano Goren, Amnon Shamosh and others, which have received little attention from Brazilian scholars so far.
