Abstract

The cutting stock problems (CSP) are widely studied in the literature and have many real applications. In this context, this project aims the study of the cutting stock problem with usable leftovers (CSPUL) and the two-dimensional cutting stock problem (2D-CSP). The CSPUL is a frequent problem in companies and recent in the literature of the CSP. This problem will be addressed in order to contribute with the sustainable development, since during the resolution of this problem retails can be generated and used internally or sold to other companies. Other approach for the CSPUL will treat it under the point of view of the stochastic programming, considering uncertainties in the demands of the items, situation that may typically occur. For both approaches of the CSPUL, the objectives involving the study and the contextualization of the problems, the formulation of mathematical models, the design and implementation of solution methods and the analysis of the results. Regarding the 2D-CSP, some particularities will be studied and applied to solve a real problem of rectangular plots allocation in irregular sugarcane planting areas. For this problem, the objectives involving the study and the contextualization of the problem, the design and implementation of solution methods and the analysis of the results. Besides the applications, this project presents a theoretical contribution that is the investigation of the methodologies to deal with uncertainty, in the theory about the sustainable development and in the study of particularities of the 2D-CSP. The results of this project will be reported in scientific conferences and submitted in specialized journals. (AU)
