Abstract

This project aims to apply institutional resources in support of research activities and infrastructure at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) at USP. The ICB is a major USP unit focused on academic and technological research and plays an outstanding role at the State, National and International scenarios as a center of excellence in the fields of biomedicine and biotechnology. The ICB consists of 7 departments (Microbiology, Immunology, Parasitology, Anatomy, Pharmacology, Cell Biology and Development, and Physiology and Biophysics), where about 170 faculties, 120 post-doc and approximately 550 graduated students (8 linked post-graduation). The ICB scientific production is one of the largest in the country at the biomedical science field. The resources requested are intended to enable the operation of laboratories (new faculties), support centers (such as animal facilities) and multi-user facility centers. The application of institutional resources represents a guarantee for maintaining the standard of quality and competence of the institution. (AU)
