Abstract

In the Aedes aegypti control program the strategic places are considered important for the dispersion of the vector, as they present higher positivity than the other premises. They may contribute to increase the infestation index but their current contribution in the dispersion of the vector to the surrounding areas has not yet been evaluated. Besides, the identification and classification of higher risk areas to the presence of the vector, based in the entomologic index used nowadays, remains a difficult task. So, this project intends to analyze the influence of strategic places on the active dispersion of the Aedes aegypti vector to their neighborhood. The premise condition index and remote sensing will be used to identify higher risk blocks to the presence of the vector. The study will be held in four areas of Campinas municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, being three with strategic places and one will be used as a control area. In order to evaluate the dispersion of the vector oviposition traps will be installed the surroundings of the strategic places. And the condition premise index will be calculated using the information of the presence of the vector and the existing breeding sites, obtained during the house to house activity that consists mainly in the visit of all the premises to verify the presence of the vector. Using this information it will be possible to demonstrate the actual contribution of the strategic places on the active dispersion of the vector. Besides, the identifications of risk areas to the presence of the vector using the premise condition index and the remote sensing tools will allow the optimization of time and resources in the activities of the Aedes aegypti control program in more restricted areas.
