Abstract
Canine monocytic ehrlichiosis, also known as tick disease, is an infectious disease caused by the intracellular bacterium Ehrlichia canis. This disease is of great importance in veterinary medicine, with a view to its global distribution, and its high prevalence mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. And the prevalence of this disease is increasing significantly in several regions of Brazil, currently it is known that can be transmitted to humans. The diagnosis of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis in the acute phase and allows early treatment improves the prognosis, however, the clinical diagnosis is hampered by nonspecific symptoms. The examination of blood smears allows direct detection of bacteria, but in most cases of natural infection this method is unreliable due to the small number of cells are infected, and thus hardly found. Thus, serological tests provide a more sensitive diagnosis. The search for specific anti-E. canis serum by Immunofluorescence Reaction (IFA) is considered the gold standard. There are currently commercial kits imported as Immunocomb-Biogal, the fastest Ehrlichia canis ad us. vet. and SNAP 3DX (Idexx). The objective of this work is to develop and validate a rapid immunochromatographic diagnostic kit for the detection of anti-p30 IgG antibodies to E. canis in the serum of dogs, originally Brazilian who contribute the speed of diagnosis, as well as decreasing the cost of the product. And for being fast and easy to perform, can be done by veterinarians in their own clinics. Therefore, we believe that the development of this kit have broad market acceptance, since it is a high incidence of disease. (AU)
