Abstract

American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL), an infectious disease, not contagious, of vectorial transmission with heteroxenic cycle, which affects the skin and mucous membranes. The drugs currently available for treatment of the disease are poor due to their limited efficacy and side effects, besides the high cost and the resistance against protozoa accumulate these drugs. Lipid formulations of amphotericin B deoxycholate (AB) is presented as a breakthrough in the treatment of (LTA). In studies conducted by the group of the Heart Institute of the Medical School and USP's Faculty of Pharmacy showed that amphotericin B deoxycholate (AB) may be associated with the lipid nanoemulsions (LDE) (Maranhão, 2008). Molecular methods, real-time PCR (qPCR) shows the advantages of using computerized data, do not require specialized technical in parasitology, identify and quantify the species of the parasite, measure the seasonal variations of the parasite in wild host, and perhaps to determine the effectiveness of drugs in human and experimental leishmaniasis (Ministry 2010). Therefore, it is intended to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of the use of amphotericin B deoxycholate associated with chylomicron-like artificial lipid nanoemulsion (QMA-AB) against amphotericin B in deoxycholate treatment of leishmaniasis (ACL) in experimental models and quantify the parasitic load molecular technique for real time PCR (qPCR ).
