Abstract
This study is supported by the problematization of individual-society separation in the field of Counseling Psychology (CP), by the expansion of this practice to various institutional contexts; by the openness of this discipline to different demands of different populations; by this discipline critique of a technical psychological practice and its investment in the creation of useful relational resources for a professional-client relationship; by its openness to alternative epistemologies to a positivist discourse in science; by its articulation with the field Social Assistance and by the lack of studies evaluating this practice in this context. Considering these aspects, the present study aims to understand the CP practice in the Social Assistance Reference Center. As our specific objective we seek to describe the meanings produced with psychologists, professionals team, service users and local community about the offer of this practice, its potentialities, limitations and challenges. Interviews, testimonials collecting, photographs, and observation will be conducted in a Social Assistance Reference Center in Ribeirão Preto. Also a thematic group with psychologists and users from different centers in the city will be coordinated. The observation reports will be recorded in a field diary. This material will be organized and analyzed considering the social post-constructionist discourse in research. It is expected that this study will provide an overview on how CP offer has happened in the Social Assistance Reference Center and on how this practice is linked to psychologists work in the field of Counseling Psychology. Finally, we hope to contribute to the construction of this practice in the Social Assistance Reference Center studied. (AU)
