Abstract

The equipment will be used for the discovery of new molecular targets involved in inflammatory diseases, using animal venoms and toxins as tools for the study of these diseases. This equipment allows fluorescence intensity quantification in suspension cells, as any other flow cytometer. However, differently from other flow cytometers, it provides images of cells analyzed, since it is equipped with fluorescence microscope objectives. Thus, Amnis Image Stream is the only equipment available on the market able to study microparticles inside suspension cells and is essential for the development of this project, especially in experiments of drug delivery, besides other applications of conventional flow cytometry, such a as immunophenotyping, cell cycle analysis, cell viability, cell proliferation, phagocytosis, among others.
