Abstract

There are many mechanisms that contribute to the high incidence of hypertension (HT) including aging, arterial stiffness, humoral and neural factors and oxidative stress. However, regular physical exercise can contribute to regulate such mechanism involved in blood pressure control and vascular function. It has been observed that there are still a lack of studies that concurrently assess the humoral factors (nitric oxide, renin-angiotensin aldosterone system), oxidative stress, neural and structural factors (arterial stiffness) both at rest conditions, as while during the acute exercise session, in order to understand which mechanisms is more responsive in the face of such stimulation. Thus, the aim of this research project is compare the mechanisms involved in blood pressure control and vascular function in adults and elderly, hypertensive and normotensive and individuals with different levels of training status at rest and during acute physical exercise. Participants will performed the following assessments: blood pressure, maximal oxygen uptake, assessment of arterial stiffening, blood collection (12 hours of fast) and a second blood collection (only 2 hours of fast) in the baseline moment and after acute physical exercise performed at 50-60% of VO2max. The blood samples will be used for the analysis of oxidative stress, nitric oxide and renin-angiotensin system, lipid and glycemic profile. (AU)
