Abstract

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has three key features that affect the development of children, who are inability to interact socially, difficulty in the field of language to communicate and pattern of restrictive and repetitive behavior. According to WHO for more than 70 million people with ASD in the world and, according to the Brazilian Society of Autism, nearly 2 million people with ASD. A major cause of the inability to interact socially is linked to the difficulty in recognizing the facial expressions associated with the emotions. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop and validate a computer game to help minimize this difficulty. For this, will be used principles of Software Engineering and entertaining games and also considered the particular skills to TEA degree of damage according to criteria of the American Psychological Association (APA). The assessment of this game while playful teaching method will be carried out by 5 psychologists, 2 educational psychologists, 5 educators and also 5 experts in games, while its effectiveness is verified with the help of 90 children divided into two groups: G1 with 30 children ASD and G2 for 30 normal children. Software and effectiveness tests will be performed and the results will be applied statistical tests such as analysis of variance and normality test. With the development of this game, is expected to stimulate the emotions perception of children with ASD and hence increase the social interaction of them, contributing to the task of educators, psychologists and parents.
