Abstract

Although only a few anurans had their chromosomes investigated up to now, the data yet obtained are exciting because it helps to clarify the mechanisms of karyotypic evolution. Classical, and more recently molecular markers have been used to investigate the chromosomal variation in anurans, improving the comparative cytogenetics. In the present work, the karyotypes of Phyllomedusa (sub-project 1) and Pipa (sub-project 2) species will be studied. Phyllomedusa ayeaye, P.megacephala e P. palliata will be analyzed through classical cytogenetics aiming to contribute to the understanding of karyotype evolution in Phyllomedusa genus. Cytogenomic analyses are proposed aiming to obtain new chromosomal markers to detect chromosomes rearrangements, to understand the intrageneric variation of diploid number (2n=20, 22 e 30) in the genus Pipa.
