Abstract

This study will be conducted through a partnership of the Department of the Federal University of Paraná Cell Biology (UFPR), the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo (USP) and Hospital for State Civil Servants (HSPE). After the explanation of the work and signing the consent form Clarified, volunteers with ankle fracture diagnosis over 60 years old who underwent surgical treatment and diagnosis of osteoporosis by bone densitometry will be recruited among patients Foot and Ankle group, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology Hospital for State Civil Servants. Patients will be identified according to age, gender, body mass index, mechanism of trauma fracture, medication use, previous history of systemic and infectious diseases and family history of inflammatory diseases. The group of patients will be volunteers with ankle fracture diagnosis over 60 years of age who underwent surgical treatment. Which will be divided into 2 groups: study group: volunteers with ankle fracture diagnoses over 60 years of age who underwent surgical treatment and diagnosis of osteoporosis by bone density measurement and control groups: volunteers diagnosed with fracture ankle over 60 years of age who underwent surgical treatment and no diagnosis of osteoporosis by bone densitometry. Exclusion criteria will be: Volunteers with ankle fracture diagnosis below 60 years of age who underwent surgical treatment. Sample calculation: 10 is expected to change in PX7 receptor in patients with normal bone densitometry, assuming at least 30 change in the receptor in patients with impaired bone densitometry. With power and confidence 80 95 the necessary sample is 59 patients in each group. (AU)
