Abstract

Historiography noted the importance of credit for the development of Brazilian coffee. The forms of funding varied according to space and time of the coffee feed. Miner Southwest hosted the coffee expansion in the late nineteenth century and early nineteenth centuries. The survey of information on mortgages that region will reveal the profiles of creditors and debtors and the conditions of the credit loan and the pledged properties (land, improvements, coffee plantations, houses etc.). From this information we can compare with results from other areas, especially the nearest Paulistas areas. (AU)
