Abstract

In last few years, large efforts has been made in the computer vision and image processing research field, enabling the development of numerous practical applications in various segments of industry and health. This growth has been driven by greater access to low-cost hardware devices with greater processing capability that allows for addressing problems that are more complex. However, even with the emerge of new equipment, computer vision has been limited to the study of images illuminated by a white incoherent light source, thus neglecting the fact that the simple change of the light source for a coherent (laser) one may provide more information about image than conventional methodologies. In this project we intend to explore computer vision techniques associated with consistent lighting in oral diagnostic applications. (AU)
