Abstract

The project aims at the production of hybrid materials formed by polysiloxanes and semiconducting polymers by hydrosilylation reaction. The stability to radiation, thermal properties and luminescent properties of these materials will also be studied. Another objective is evaluating the possibility of application the luminescent silicones as active layer in luminescent light-emitting diodes (LEDs) due to the need to create devices with elasticity characteristics, electronic and optical properties and a longer lifetime. For the application in this type of diode it is necessary to determine the amounts of luminescent material in the silicone matrix necessary to ensure the operation of the devices, and after the construction of the diodes, it will be obtained electrical measurements and the electroluminescence (EL). The use of silicone, which is a material more thermally stable than derivatives of polyfluorene, may allow a longer duration of the active layer of LEDs. The aim is also determining the best thickness of thin films of these materials for application citied above. We want to ensure the highest emission efficiency with easier processing and a longer lifetime for the device. (AU)
