Abstract
Strokes and traumatic brain injury affect a great number of individuals every year in Brazil and all over the world resulting in death or sequelae, which need long-term treatment causing a negative impact on the their quality of life. According to data from DATASUS, in 2014 the public hospitals in Guarulhos declared an intake of nearly 1400 adults, residing in the municipality, affected by the aforementioned disorders. Considering the high prevalence of communication and deglutition disorders as sequelae of these neurological aggressions, this project intends to evaluate the influence of the line of care directed to people with Acquired Neurogenic Disorders that impair communication abilities and swallowing. These disorders affect their quality of life and therefore there is a need to raise subsidies for the formulation of public health policies for the care of these people. This is a prospective cohort study, involving people with 2 Acquired Neurogenic Disorders, caused by strokes or traumatic brain injury. The sample will be obtained in four public hospitals in the municipality for 6 consecutive months and followed by 12 months of home visits for a total of 18 months of data collection. We will use specific instruments to characterize the sample profile, to estimate communication and deglutition disorders, quality of life and to describe the access to health services. (AU)
